Skeet Shooting

5 Stand

The game offers several different skill levels and the Mosley Ranch 5 Stand utilizes 6 automatic traps to simulate game bird presentations. Targets are released in a predetermined set sequence as shown on a menu card located on the upper left of each shooting cage station.

Level I:
· Single Target: Shooter may fire two shots to break the target.
· First Report Pair: Two targets are thrown, per the menu, on "report" which means the second bird is thrown after a shot is fired at the first target.
· Second Report Pair: Two new targets are thrown per the menu.

Level II:
· Single Target: Shooter may fire two shots to break the target.
· Report Pair: Two targets are thrown, per the menu, on "report" which means the second bird is thrown after a shot is fired at the first target.
· True Pair: Two new targets are thrown simultaneously per the menu. Shooter must determine which target to take first in order to accomplish breaking both targets. Shooters may shoot twice at one of the targets.

Level III:
· Single Target: Shooter may fire two shots to break the target.
· First True Pair: Two targets are thrown simultaneously per the menu. Shooter must determine which target to take first in order to accomplish breaking both targets. Shooters may shoot twice at one of the targets.

When all shooters complete their respective station, UPON THE TRAPPER’S INSTRUCTION, each shooter will make their gun safe (empty) and move to the next station for another 5 target presentations. This will continue until each shooter has had 5 target presentations from each of the 5 stations. It is recommended that shooters begin the round with 35 shells.

Target Presentation and Scoring

Single Target

· Two shots are allowed, but not required. A target will be scored dead if broken by either shot.

Pairs

· Only two shots are allowed. Pairs may be presented as report, following or simultaneous (true pair).

· In simultaneous pairs (true pair) the shooter has the right to shoot either of the targets first. A shooter may shoot twice at the same target. Regardless of the result, the other target will be scored as lost.

· When shooting report or following pairs, the shooter will have the right to shoot twice at the same target. Regardless of the result, the other target will be scored as lost.

Scoring Pairs

· Should the shooter break both targets with either the first or second shot, then the result will be scored as two hits.

· In the event of a no Bird on a simultaneous pair (true pair) or following pair, nothing can be established. Two good targets must be present to record the score. This will also apply for gun/ammunition malfunctions while shooting pairs.

· In the event of a NO BIRD on the second target of a report pair, the first bird will be established as dead or lost and the shooter will repeat the pair to establish the result of the second target. When repeating the pair, the shooter must make a legitimate attempt at the first target.

· In the event of a "shooter malfunction" on the first bird of a report pair, the first bird will be established as lost and the shooter will repeat the pair to establish the result of the second target. When repeating the pair the shooter must make a legitimate attempt at the first target. The first target has already been established as lost and the result of the second target will be recorded.

Skeet Field

The event is in part meant to simulate the action of bird hunting. At stations 1 and 2 the shooter shoots at single targets launched from the high house and then the low house, then shoots a double where the two targets are launched simultaneously but shooting the high house target first. At stations 3, 4, and 5 the shooter shoots at single targets launched from the high house and then the low house. At stations 6 and 7 the shooter shoots at single targets launched from the high house and then the low house, then shoots a double, shooting the low house target first then the high house target. At station 8 the shooter shoots one high target and one low target.

The shooter must then re-shoot his first missed target or, if no targets are missed, must shoot his 25th shell at the low house station 8. This 25th shot was once referred to as the shooter's option, as he was able to take it where he preferred. Now, to speed up rounds in competition, the shooter must shoot the low 8 twice for a perfect score.

"Wobble Trap"
Increase your skill to a higher level by firing at random vertical and horizontal targets. The wobble trap adds the element of surprise and makes clay shooting more challenging. It's like having 5 traps in one. The wobble trap offers a different target presentation with every pull. It oscillates side to side and wobbles up and down to throw targets at every angle.
